My favourite sushi place in Munich

We decided to go to a restaurant today as we both got back home earlier from work. Normally I love cooking, because it relaxes me after work, but today I was thinking about Sushi at work all the time. No way to get it out of my mind. And as I haven't managed to go to a Sushi cooking class so far, I prefer to have it from someone who knows how to prepare it rather than from myself, experimenting. :) We went to our favourite sushi place in Munich today it's called "Bento Box". Nice food !

I had my favourite sushi an inside out maki with salmon, cream cheese and grilled sweet pepper.

Celebrate good times...

My sister Janine's birthday was really nice and we celebrated it my family, the only person missing was my brother who is on vacation together with his girlfriend. Janine wanted to go to a Thai restaurant, which we did. The food was spicy and delicious and afterwards they all came to my place. I love it when they are here, it so cozy and we can talk for hours. Compared to my friends I'm seeing my family quite often, because they are very important for me and I like spending time together with them. These are the flowers I bought for her and my present is that we are going to Nürnberg to the Christmas Market and we stay there overnight. Hope she likes it.

Have a good start of the day!

Happy birthday little sister!

Today is my sister's birthday and we're going to celebrate it all together. When I see her, I recognize how fast she has grown up, from that little baby that was one of the cutest I've ever seen to a young lady (and now she 's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen -> this compliment is my birthday present to you, my dear  :) :) :))

SO WITH ALL MY HEART: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Vitamins...

The cold I have is getting better, but I'm still feeling a little bit shaky and weak. It's the same every year, I get a cold in November, but I guess it's the same for everyone. I'm wearing a winter jacket since the start of November, but I think it's the permanent change between warm and cold that weakens your body. And of course many people are ill. I feel my body needs some vitamins. I will squeeze some oranges and drink the fresh orange juice and go to bed early today. Hope that the cold will soon be over. Take care and have a nice day!

Wearing a denim shirt in winter

I don't know how you feel, but for me it's easier to combine the right outfit in summer. During winter I tend to wear things that just comfortable like long cardigans or ugg boots. I also like to wear denim shirts and for summer this is a nice combination:

But I need a combination for now. For autumn or winter, this is a good combination and you could also wear a olive-green parka together with it.

Christmas has arrived

The Christmas tree for Marienplatz in the heart of Munich has arrived. I didn't know it and I passed by Marienplatz today and they had already put some lights in it and started to build up the traditional wodden huts for Gluehwein, Lebkuchen and Christmas tree ornaments. So incredible nice! It's this joy and excitement that I'm feeling everytime when Christmas starts and it's getting closer to december, my favourite month of the year!

Twinkle, twinkle, little star - DIY star garland

This is a garland from a magazine that is easy to do. You just need different wrapping papers you like, some cotton balls and a yarn.

Photo: livingathome
Start with the stars and cut them out twice (one for the frontside and one for the backside) Here is a picture which you can use as a model, print it out in the size you prefer.
Photo: haus.de
Take the stars and stick them together, but put the yarn between the two stars at different heights. Thread the yarn into the needle and put the needle through the center of the cotton balls. Now you can place the garland wherever you like e.g. at the window or on a gift.

Rotor Jul - Swedish Christmas Design from Rotor

I love the Yule goats from rotor Design in Sweden. Like with most things, it's the simple design that I like. It's a perfect candle holder for a table or you can put it on a sideboard or the window board. As it's candles you can be sure to have a warm light. I can't say which style I prefer... maybe buy both :)?

The last representatives for summer

We had already snow, frost and all the leaves that have this nice red and yellow colours begin to fall down to the ground. But there are still some representatives from summer in the little park that is in the backyard of our building, fighting against autumn and winter:

And as you already know, it's my favourite flower the hydrangea! Very tough and resistant :)

My grandma's birthday

Today is a very hard day for me, because today is my grandmother's birthday who passed away nearly 4 years ago. She would have been 94 today. People say that it was her time to go as she was really old. I know it's egoistic to want her to live forever, she had a lot of pain in her knees and her hip and it took her very long time to get from one room to another with her rolling walker. But we were so close, I could always call her and tell her every problem I had and she would listen to me and tell me the solutions she had found in her life in her calm and nice voice. We talked every second day and we shared the happy and the sad moments. When she died and my dad told me, the first thing I did was grabbing the telephone and dialing her number because I wanted to tell her. Then I realized what I did. And I still really miss her, every day after such a long time.

Chestnuts recipe from Helena

I've read this nice post from Helena's jul  last week and I decided to try her chestnut recipe. Haven't eaten chestnuts before in my life, this is the first time. I think they taste similar to potatoes in a way and it's incredible how nice they smell when they get out of the oven. Helena wrote that you need a sharp knife for it and I've recognized that our knives aren't sharp enough. So instead of a cross like in Helena's blog (the cross actually looks much better :)), I just made one large cut:

Helly, thank you for the tip with the butter!

Eva solo - Design for birds?

When I opened up the first page of the magazines I bought, the first thing I saw was this ad from eva solo :
Photo: evasolo
Actually I found it quite funny. I know the intention for this was to create a modern birdhouse that should be very fancy and it even won silver in the Focus Open award 2012. But for me it looks somehow dangerous for the bird, do you remember Pac Man? It's eating all the seeds from the birds and the birds :)

Some things are better the old-fashioned way...

Well-being for winterdays

Isn't it just relaxing to be in a warm place when you know it's freezing cold outside? To be able to clear your mind, no thoughts, no stress, just you. And the feeling you have when having a cold shower afterwards. When you feel that the blood is pumping through your veins. And when you are back home, the moment when you go to bed and you are so tired, but tired in a positive way. I love it! I can only recommend that for winter!

In Sweden people often go to a sauna or have a sauna at home. As I don't have it at home here in Munich, I go to a public swimming pool where they also have a sauna. Even though I'm not prudish, I prefer to go in a sauna where only women are allowed, to be able to relax.

Travelling to Gingerbreadland

One of my absolute favourite books when I was a child was "Resan till pepparkakslandet" from Einar Nerman. It's one of the cutest stories I know. Just have a look at the pictures and you will know why :)

This book makes me feel like a little child again and I think about Christmas, my lovely Christmas. Here is a summary of the story:

It's the night before St Lucia. Pelle and Greta are snacking on the gingerbread dough even though they are not allowed to do that. That's why their parents sent them to bed 1 hour earlier than usual. In the middle of the night a gingerbread Yule goat wakes them up and takes them on a magic journey to gingerbreadland.
