Hering pattern
My sister has asked me to paint something for her and she wanted it to be truly Scandinavian, so I've been browsing all morning to find some patterns that she might like for her new apartment. One of the patterns that I like a lot is the hering pattern ( "sill") from Marianne Nilsson , who designed it for Almedahls in 1955:
I'll show you once I've decided which one to use and the result of course. :)

Back home to Munich from Milano
The thing about business meetings is that you never get to see a lot of the cities itself that you are in unfortunately. You only sit in meeting rooms and after a lot of conversations you are already on the way back home. My meeting is finally finished and my train to Munich will leave soon but I wanted to share with you what I see right now - Milano central station. I looks really great and if it wasn't for the shops and the lights you could also imagine it being ancient, couldn't you? :)

Rose Strawberry Punch
On my way to Milano I bought a German Living at Home magazine and found this wonderful punch recipe. Haven't tasted this in a very long time but it is really refreshing and good after a long day ( I wish I had one now, maybe this is why it caught my attention :)) and I look forward to trying it.
This is the translation for you:
1 kg strawberries
1 organic lemon
Seeds from 1 vanilla bean
100 ml rose syrup
100 ml rose liqueur
pedals from unsprayed roses
1 bottle of cooled dry white wine
1 bottle of cooled sparkling wine
Cut the strawberries and the lemon in slices. Mix the seeds of the vanilla bean together with the rose syrup and the rose liqueur in a bowl. Put the strawberries into a punch jar and add the vanilla-rose liquid. Wait 30 minutes and just before you are about to serve it add ice cubes and the rose pedals, the white wine and the sparkling wine.
If you would like to have a non- alcoholic variation use rhubarb spritzer instead of the wine and the sparkling wine.

I'm on my way to Milano
I'm currently on my way to Milano for a business meeting and sending you some pictures from the train. I took a night train and had the luxury of having a compartment all by myself. Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures but I took these with my mobile. I have a huge suitcase with me weighing nearly as much as I do, so I decided to leave the camera at home. :)

California- Huntington Beach
I told you the light in California in the evening was special and I'm going to proof it :). I did not modify these pictures they are the same color as I saw them when I was in Huntington Beach. Isn't this just incredible? I hope people in California realize how lucky they are!

California - Dana Point
We returned to Dana Point too, which is my favorite place in California and also one of these memories I was talking about yesterday. We prefer to rent apartments not only because it is cheaper ( especially in California) but also due to the fact that you feel like you would really live there. As you know from my blog I love cooking and baking so for me this is no extra effort- the contrary. Going into the supermarkets of the various countries is something I enjoy. trying new things and living the Californian life :)

California- New Port Beach
The best thing about holidays is that you have memories that are saved in your mind forever and you can recall them whenever you need them and they will cheer you up. One of these memories is Newport Beach. We rented an apartment which was 2 minutes away from the beach on the Balboa Peninsula. Being there so close to the beach and sitting there in the sand and seeing these incredible colors everyday when the sun goes down is something that I will never forget. For sure.

California - Solvang
I promised to have a "summer" post. Here it comes :) .
After a long winter break Tim and I went to California to relax and get some sun. We started in San Francisco and drove down to Solvang which is a Danish community in California. Being Scandinavian the town itself is a little bit like Scandinavian Disneyland ( A colorful mix of European kitsch- Shops with German cuckoo clocks together with Dutch wooden clogs etc. ) - but nevertheless it was fun. I especially like the hotel we were in - "The Landsby". This hotel was truly Scandinavian but also with a mix of California, which I really liked.

Update from Christmas last year
In my mind I truly already start to think about Christmas again. I know for some people this might sound crazy. But I love Christmas that much, I could celebrate it more often :) :)
For those of you who think I'm crazy and that we all should think about summer now, the next post tomorrow will be better for you- promoting summer ;)

Update from last year - Our trip to Berlin
When I'm in Sweden on the way back I try to visit Berlin as well. Which is wonderful during summer. Just take a bike and ride on a bike through the city. You will see amazing things and shops and cafes!
This was the backyard from our hotel in Berlin Mitte:

Update from last Year - Sweden
I promised to show you the things that has happened the last year. So here are my holiday pictures from Sweden last year. One of my favorite restaurants in the world: Rut på skäret.

Helsingborg:
Malmö:
Bakery in Ängelholm:
And of course Fish. This is also one of the best things, as I live in Munich you never get a chance to eat fresh fish from the sea. And then of course potatoes with dill. Yummy!

Inspiration Grandpa Stockholm
When I was younger I always wanted to become an interior stylist. But life came along and I became a sales manager. You can say that's quite the opposite, so one of my favorite things to do when I'm at home or in other countries is to browse through interior design /home decor/ furniture stores and look for new things and change our apartment every now and then. More "now" than "then". I currently like a mix of geometric patterns and natural looks like these items from Grandpa in Stockholm.

Back from a looooong holiday
Hi there... do you still remember me? :)
I know I really haven't written a lot the last year. I am a person who wants do do everything and do everything at once at the same time - and then sometimes even things that I like like writing this blog can be too much. With all the roles you have to fulfill in life- being a partner, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a boss ...
But no complaining anymore. I need to find time. Find time for myself and this blog. So what happened while I was away? In the upcoming posts I'm going to show you.
Let's start in May/June last year. This is a picture I took from a church in Landsberg am Lech, where I went together with an American colleague visiting Munich. I love these old church windows and the light shining through these.
