Update from last year - Our trip to Berlin
When I'm in Sweden on the way back I try to visit Berlin as well. Which is wonderful during summer. Just take a bike and ride on a bike through the city. You will see amazing things and shops and cafes!
This was the backyard from our hotel in Berlin Mitte:

More from Berlin
It really felt good to have a few days off. And Berlin is so close to Scandinavia, that sometimes you have the Scandinavian influence even there. I had grilled fish and potatoes with dill and sour cream. Do you know the feeling you get when you smell or taste something that brings back memories? I had this feeling when eating the fish together with the dill potatoes. Already when I took the first bite, this was Swedish summer, sitting in the garden with my family and my grandma who comes with a carafe filled with elderflower juice and who prepared this fish for dinner. I really miss that and you can imagine how good it was:
After the dinner we just took our bicycles and cycled trough Berlin to Alexanderplatz and the sky had this light blue dark blue mix like on the picture and it was after 11:30 pm! This is what I like about summer and having vacation: being outside until it gets dark.
Have a good day!

Monbijou Hotel Berlin
We just came back from Berlin and I'm really sorry that I haven't posted for a while, I needed a pause from computers and internet for a few days. So I simply left my computer back home in order not to be able to read emails, which unfortunately also meant that I wasn't able to blog. But now I'm back and it was a really nice trip to Berlin. This time we tried a different hotel: the Monbijou Hotel Berlin. It is a very welcoming and very cozy hotel, which you can see in the pictures I took, the only thing that was bad was the size of the room, it was really very small and the bed was 140 cm x 200 cm. But all in all I can recommend it, if the room size doesn't matter, as in our case, because we've spent most of the time outside. ( We even lent a bicycle this time which I can recommend too, because it made the sightseeing and stops at little cafés and all the shops very easy and your feet will thank you for it in the evening :))
The hotel lobby was very cozy, with all the books and the fireplace they have. And the view from the hallway, you're really in the center of Berlin:

Things to do in Berlin
It's only a few days left and I browse the internet for things to do in Berlin ( of course I will be on some events of the fashion week) but I'll also go shopping. For sure. Berlin is perfect for that, you have these nice vintage shops and shops that sell special things like Salon Elfi:

But after a long day on the exhibitions I think an evening in the Liquidrom might be good as well, which is a thermal bath in the center of Berlin. Haven't been there yet, but I guess it will be great...

I'm so looking forward to going to Berlin. I need some days away from Munich and away from work.
Have a good saturday evening!

Back to Berlin!
We're going to Berlin in July, Tim and I just booked our flights. I look so much forward to being there, this is one of the best cities I know and being there together with Tim is just the best thing I can imagine. I've already had a look at different hotels, and there is a new hotel called "Monbijou Hotel" which I find very nice, it reminds me of these very old manor houses in Great Britain and it looks very cozy, doesn't it?
Haven't decided yet whether to choose this one or Hotel 38, which is very nice too!
I'll let you know ;)

Transit Restaurant Berlin
I've talked so much about the Transit Restaurant in Berlin, that I want to show you some pictures from Friday's evening. It's different to anything I know from Munich, you can order small bowls with different dishes at 3 euro each and I've tried a lot of them and everything tastes really delicious.
These are the bowls with the different dishes:
No, it's not a mochito :), it's a lemon-ginger-honey tea as it was so cold in Berlin that I needed something hot to drink...

iittala Shop Berlin
You know I like porcelain and especially Scandinavian, so Tim went to the iittala shop together with me. iitala is a Finnish brand which was founded as a glassworks in 1881. They really have nice design objects, but I only had a look at the things and didn't buy anything. (Tim was happy about that :)) Even if it was nice to have something from iittala, I wouldn't want our cupboards to explode. And I would like to go to the outlet in Höganäs in Sweden this summer...
This is a picture from the main entrance, they've decorated all the walls with plates:
And one of the design objects, which made it very hard for me to leave ;)

Kaffeemitte in Berlin
Today we just spent the entire day in Berlin city center and started it with a very good breakfast in Kaffeemitte, with some coffee, fruit salad, scrambled eggs and fresh orange juice. I LOVE breakfast, for me that's the best part of the day. The café is situated in Berlin Mitte in the Eastern part of Berlin and perfect for starting a shopping/sightseeing tour in this area:

Berlin Fashion Week Tradeshows - Bright 2013
I promised to send you an update of my day. I've been on many different fashion shows today and met a lot of people. Tradeshows are very interesting and you meet a lot of new people, but at the same time you walk a thousand miles without knowing it and you forget about time and forget about food. That's why I will order all the dishes on the menu of the Transit restaurant today. :) These are some of the pictures I took at the Bright 2013 tradeshow:
As I work in an agency that does the marketing for many fashion brands, I was invited to come to this tradeshow. It's very interesting to see all the new collections and people are very friendly. I'll give you more details about the trends at a later time.
As Tim is with me on this trip we will go to the Transit restaurant now and meet some friends that live in Berlin. Looking forward to it!

Hotel 38 Berlin
I've just returned from the fashion tradeshows in Berlin and I'm very happy to be able to be in the hotel room right now. I think I walked a thousand miles today, but I want to see more of Berlin, so I returned to the hotel to relax a little bit before going to Berlin city center. This is the breakfast room of our Hotel ( Hotel 38) in Berlin, isn't it nice? In Summer you can have the breakfast outside in the little inner court:
I can warmly recommend this hotel it's very calm and perfectly situated to get to the Eastern part of Berlin. If you like Scandinavian Design, make sure to book a room that is closer to the elevator, as these are more modern than the ones that are far away from the elevator.
Will get back to you later with more pictures...

Absinth Bar Berlin
We've arrived in Berlin and I've just seen a very stylish Absinth Bar which reminds me of Upstairs Downstairs. Unfortunately you're not allowed to take pictures of it but I found one on the internet:
It looks really like in the twenties and even better than on this picture. Berlin is such an incredible mix of different styles and you can explore new things everyday. We will go to the Transit restaurant now.
More pictures are to follow ;)
