Things to do in Berlin

It's only a few days left and I browse the internet for things to do in Berlin ( of course I will be on some events of the fashion week) but I'll also go shopping. For sure. Berlin is perfect for that, you have these nice vintage shops and shops that sell special things like Salon Elfi:

But after a long day on the exhibitions I think an evening in the Liquidrom might be good as well, which is a thermal bath in the center of Berlin. Haven't been there yet, but I guess it will be great...

I'm so looking forward to going to Berlin. I need some days away from Munich and away from work.

Have a good saturday evening!

Bolia lamp

I promised to show you a better picture of the lamp we bought in Bolia, here it comes and it looks very nice in our kitchen. I like the brazen colour so much and the shape of the lamp. This week I also finally managed to paint the wall in grey together with my sister who helped me a lot as in my do-it-yourselfer /let's paint the entire room feeling my sister was involved, even if I'm not sure if she was so happy about it. :)

More pics will follow...

Message in a bottle...

I've had some internet problems due to the flood that has been in a lot of places here in  Germany, so I couldn't write anything and the internet connection was on and off. But I think they fixed this problem and I'm back :)

As my weeding is coming closer and closer, I start to think about the various things I still need to do and one of these things are the place cards, I found this "Message in a bottle" place card very nice if it wasn't to much waste in the Isar river, it would be great to just throw it into the water after the wedding with some nice words for the one to find it ad as a nice memory that might end up somewhere in the world...

New H&M Styles

I like loose fit, the absolutely best thing to wear when you like it comfortable. The slim fit jeans can sometimes be too tight and hot during summer and I prefer the Chino Style at the moment. And you can even wear it at work: just change the t-shirt into a blouse, put it into the jeans and use a belt and wear high heals.

This is a very nice and light version of a denim dress, even though I would wear a braun leather belt and sandals together with it:

I'll definitely go shopping in Berlin in some stores ;)

Long days

At the moment there are very long days for me. It come home very late and after work I continue "working". My best friend has her 30th birthday on friday and I've been scanning all her baby and childhood pictures from at least 30 photo albums and then I had to adjust all the colors and I create a DVD with music for her, showing her entire life until now. But I finished it today, I'm very satisfied with the result and I know that this present will make her really happy. It's good to give something as a present when you know people get really happy, it's worth all the effort and long days.

And I got my lamp from Bolia today, as I was in a hurry to finish my DVD project I just took a picture with my mobil phone to show you how it looks. I'll take some more pics this weekend and show you!

Have a nice evening!

Tik tak....

I really can't believe it. Time goes by so quickly, it's only a few weeks left until my wedding. And there is still a lot to be done. We haven't decided most of the things yet, like our wedding rings for example. I'm happy that we have booked the restaurant at least - but we haven't chosen the dishes yet. I feel a little bit as if time was running and I only get half of the things done. But I work very long these days and I'm often too tired to look for inspiration or it's often too late to have a look at the rings simply because all the shops close at 20:00 here in Munich. But in the end it all will be fine, I'm sure and the most important thing for me is to say "I do", isn't it? :)

Home remedy to relieve a sunburn

After all this cold weather, when you needed to stay inside because it was raining all the time my skin seems to have become very sensitive to the sun. Tim and I went to a lake in Northern Munich called "Feringasee" today and as it was 29 °C finally so of course I wanted to get tanned. The tan from Bali has already disappeared thanks to the North Pole Summer and the result of that is that I got a terrible sunburn on my shoulders and on my nose and it's sunday, so all the shops are closed. But I still remember a home remedy for sunburns: plain yogurt. Fortunately I have it at home so I hope it will relieve the sunburn a little bit.

Have a nice evening and be careful with the sun!

Parabola Cups

I'm a porcelain and ceramics victim. Whenever there is a nice porcelain I start thinking if it would fit to the various things I already bought in Copenhagen or on flea markets during summer. I like clear lines and things that match when it comes to furniture, but I like different colours, shapes and decor when it comes to porcelain. It's a nice contrast to have our very modern and Scandinavian furniture and to lay the table with porcelain from the 1920 oder 50s. But of course I also like clear lines in porcelain like the "Parabola Cups", that are handmade:

They might end up in my cupboard ;)

Watermelon Lemonade

My friend Nicole invited me to this watermelon lemonade a few days ago, it's very refreshing during the hot summer days of June. And you can of course also make a cocktail version of it by adding some Gin:

Photo: Living at home

Here is what you need for 4 persons:

500 gr watermelon pulp (in cubes)
juice from 1 lemon
200 gr crushed ice
300 ml Tonic water

Cut the Watermelon pulp into cubes and remove the seeds, put it into a blender. Squeeze the lemon and add it together with the crushed ice until you have a homogenous mixture. Put into the fridge and add some ice cubes just before serving it , fill the glass with 2/3 of the watermelon mix and add 300 ml Tonic Water.

Have a lovely friday!

Flickorna Lundgren på Skäret

One of my favorite cafés in Sweden is Flickorna Lundgren på Skäret. It's like going back in time. You can buy homemade bread and cakes from a little shop that is really like in the 19th century surrounded by a huge garden where you can order coffee and just sit and enjoy the view over flowers and the sea.

Photo: m8.i.pbase.com
They serve coffee in a kettle made of tin and the waitresses wear aprons which could be taken from a picture of Carl Larsson.

if you should be in Sweden some time, promise me to go to this place, it's really so cozy and one of my favourite places in Sweden.

Pyramid cake during summer

The typical season for pyramid cake is actually during winter, when the snow is falling and you eat it while drinking a hot chocolate. Last winter I didn't have a chance to eat it and all of a sudden I came to think about it right now. In the middle of summer, in June. But I really like pyramid cake, so why not trying it with some fresh strawberries?
I sometimes get these crazy ideas so I went to the bakery which sells these cakes during winter and they even have it during summer! ... And that's the proof, I'm not the only one thinkig about pyramid cakes right now :)

First Pyramid cake during summer... I can tell it was very good :)

Al Bancut Restaurant Lignano

There was one restaurant in Lignano, which I want to share with you, it's called "Al Bancut". Everything was very delicious. They serve homemade bread and you can see how they bake it in the oven close to the fire. I had tagliatelle with fresh aspargus as starter and a filet steak which was so tender. As dessert I chose a hot chocolate cake... I can tell you I ate it very slowly to really enjoy every moment. My Dad also ordered an espresso and they served homemade vanilla cookies, which the chaf had just got out of the oven and they were still lukewarm. The restaurant itself was very cozy, from the place where we sat you could see the fire burning:

Banana-Vanilla-icecream drink

No summer without my banana milkshake with vanilla icecream. It's very simple and sooooo delicious. Take a ripe banana and cut it into piece, put it into a blender, add fresh cold milk so that the banana pieces are not yet covered by the milk and one scoop of vanilla icecream and 2-3 ice cubes.

Have a lovely sunday!

Bolia

We've been in Nuremberg yesterday and it was such a fantastic day with sun and ice cream and you could feel that it's summer and people where outside until late in the evening. The reason why we drove to Nuremberg was to meet friends and to go to Bolia, which is a Scandinavian furniture company. They have just opened a shop in Nuremberg, and I got a voucher as birthday present, so we decided to got there before we had dinner with friends. Of course I found something:

Photo: bolia
I bought the lamp on the left, but in copper which will suit very nicely to the old copper from my Swedish family which is hanging on the kitchen wall. The one on the right is certainly over 150 years old as it comes from my grandma's parents and you can see that it's handmade. I'll show you how it looks like as soon as the have sent it to me.

And I couldn't resist... I have so many tealight candleholders, but I liked the colours so much and it's good to change them sometimes... during summer we need some colour right?

I'm so looking forward to the lamp, thank you Christa and Basti!

The taste of summer

Today was the first real summer day here in Munich. Fruits and the scent of fresh cherries and strawberries are the things that I think of when I need to describe summer. To go to the fruit stands and buy some cherries in these typical brown paper bags which you can see on the picture. So this is what I did today, I wanted to taste summer and bought a kilo of sweet red cherries.

The other thing I bought is a little paper lantern, as I don't have a garden or a balcony I put it on the window sill and I'm quite content with the result:

Enjoy this summer evening!

Back from Lignano

I've just arrived from my trip in Lignano and as the internet connection didn't work in the hotel, I'll show you what I've seen now.

On the first day it was just raining and nearly as cold as in Munich:

You could see people with umbrellas on the beach in the rain:

On the second day the weather changed and we finally got some sun :

And one of the highlights : Venice

I didn't think that the city was so beautiful, you can really feel how old this city is when going around.   You can either walk..

or go by gondoliers...

I really liked the ink pot and feather

So now I'm back in the cold autumn in Munich :)
